A lot is said about what Vitiligo is. Let’s see what it IS NOT – contagious, untreatable, always hereditary and a curse. Only by changing our outlook, will society change. And only then, we can overcome this obstacle. Because the only true trauma with vitiligo is psychosocial. And the onus is on US to help overcome it.
With this as our theme, IADVL Maharashtra spearheaded the World Vitiligo Day. The Mumbai chapter flagged off proceedings, in conjunction with SIG Pigmentary Disorders by conducting a Vitiligo Update on the 23rd at KJ Somaiya Medical College..
Short presentations, patient awareness pamphlets, free camps, free OPD consultations were offered, patient outreach programmes and CMEs were organised and conducted with immense success at the following centres by the following State Chapters:
- Vidarbha Dermatological Society (VDS) at Nagpur
- Amaravati
- Latur
- Mumbai chapter at various colleges, centres and clinics
- Navi Mumbai Dermatological Association at various centres
- Pune
